Legal
Terms of use
Effective 17 August 2026 · Last updated 17 August 2026
These are the rules for playing Facegammon. They are written to be read
rather than skipped, so they are shorter than they could be. Using the
game means agreeing to them.
1. Agreeing to these terms
By creating an account or playing Facegammon, you agree to these terms
and to the privacy policy. If you do not
agree with them, do not use the game.
2. Who may play
You must be 13 or older, and 16 or older where your country sets
that as the age of digital consent. You must have the legal capacity to
agree to these terms, and you must not be barred from using the service
under the law that applies to you.
3. Your account
-
One account per person. Extra accounts made to farm coins, dodge a
rating or dodge a suspension may all be closed.
-
Keep your sign-in details to yourself. What happens on your account
is your responsibility, so tell us promptly if you think somebody
else has got into it.
-
Choose a username that you would be happy to see on a public
leaderboard. Names that impersonate somebody else, or that are
abusive, obscene or hateful, will be changed or removed.
-
You may delete your account at any time from
Settings → Danger zone. Doing so forfeits any coins you
are holding.
4. Coins
Coins are the game's currency and nothing more.
-
They have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money or
anything outside the game, and cannot be cashed out.
-
You do not own them. They are a limited, personal, non-transferable
licence to use a feature of the game, and they can be removed if an
account is closed for breaking these terms.
-
Every table costs coins to sit at, against a person and against the
AI alike, and you can lose them by playing. That is the game.
-
Coins bought through an app store are sold under that store's rules,
and refunds are handled by the store, not by us. Coins won, awarded
or given as a bonus are not refundable in any circumstances.
-
We may change prices, payouts and bonuses. Changes apply to future
play, not retrospectively to a balance you already hold.
-
Facegammon is a game of skill and chance played for in-game coins. It
is not gambling: no real money can be won, and nothing of cash
value leaves the game.
5. Playing fairly
You agree not to:
-
use a bot, script, modified client or automation of any kind to play
or to influence a match;
-
collude with another player — arranging results, feeding coins from
one account to another, or playing both sides of a match;
-
exploit a bug rather than reporting it. If a fault gives you coins,
a rating or an advantage you did not earn, tell us; keeping it
knowingly is a breach of these terms;
-
quit matches deliberately to avoid a loss, or interfere with the
server, the matchmaking queue or another player's connection;
-
attempt to access accounts, data or systems that are not yours.
We may reverse coins, ratings and results that came from any of this.
6. Behaviour on video
Video is optional, and it puts a real person in front of you. Treat
them as one.
-
No nudity or sexual content, no harassment, threats, hate speech or
abuse, and nothing illegal.
-
Do not show anyone else on camera who has not agreed to it, and do
not show a child.
-
Do not record the other player, by any means, without their
agreement.
-
Turning your camera on means the person you are playing can see and
hear you until the match ends. Turn it off in Settings, or on the
home screen, if you would rather they could not.
We do not record or monitor calls, so we cannot see what happened in
one. What we can do is act on reports, and a single serious breach of
this section is enough to close an account permanently.
7. Tournaments
Tournament entry fees are taken when you join and are not refundable
once the bracket has started. Prizes are the coins and levels stated on
the tournament itself. If a tournament cannot be completed for
technical reasons, we will return the entry fees.
8. What you upload
You keep ownership of an avatar picture you upload. You give us
permission to store it and to show it inside the game — to your
opponents, on leaderboards and in match history — for as long as you
keep it on your account.
Only upload a picture you have the right to use, and one you are
content to have seen publicly. Avatars that are obscene, hateful,
infringing or that impersonate someone else will be removed.
9. What is ours
The game, its artwork, boards, checkers, sounds, name and logo belong
to us or to our licensors. You may play the game; you may not copy,
sell, decompile, reverse-engineer or make derivative works from it,
except where the law says you may regardless of what a contract states.
10. Suspension and closure
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, and may
remove coins, ratings or results obtained by breaking them. Where it is
reasonable to do so we will tell you why and give you a chance to
respond; for serious cases — cheating, abuse on video, anything illegal
— we may act immediately.
You may close your own account at any time, as described above.
11. Availability and changes
We try to keep Facegammon running, but it is provided as is. It
may be unavailable for maintenance, faults or reasons outside our
control. We may add, change or remove features, tables, prices and
rules as the game develops.
If we change these terms, the date at the top changes and the app will
tell you before a significant change takes effect. Continuing to play
after that means accepting the new version.
12. Liability
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by
negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be
limited — including your rights as a consumer, which these terms do not
affect.
Otherwise, and to the extent the law allows: we are not liable for
indirect or consequential loss, for lost coins, ratings, progress or
skins, or for anything said or done by another player. Facegammon is a
game, and coins have no cash value.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of the country in which the
operator of Facegammon is established, and disputes will be dealt with
by the courts there. If you are a consumer, you keep the protection of
the mandatory laws of the country you live in, and you may bring
proceedings in your own local courts.
